Converting to later non points ignition.
01 Jan 2012 17:02
I have one of the later electronic pickups, (from an ;84 kz1000 I believe). And the advancer. What else do I need/ what do I need to do to adapt it to my engine with a mechanical ignition.
I know I have seen info on this on here before, but I cant find it...

If it's a mechanical-advance, Kawasaki electronic ignition, then you need the pickups, rotor, igniter box and coils.
The parts should just bolt in. You will need to route a few extra wires and find a place to mount the igniter box.
If you want new coils, get the Dyna 2.2 ohm gray coils. They are the best match for the ignition.

I posted details in your other thread about going batteryless.
The 3-ohm coils may work fine. Since you have them, may as well use them. I use 3-ohm coils with the electronic ignition and it works fine as long as the compression is not super high and your plug gap is stock.
When you go batteryless, make sure the brown wire on the reg/rec goes to the red/white output wire. (I probably already mentioned this in the other thread, but that was like a year ago.
