kill switch help please

i have a 79 kz 750 bobber project i was swaping bars out to z bars and the 2 wires that hook up to the run stop switch got pulled out i hooked back up and now starter button wont work tried to conect wires together to complete circut do these need to be hooked up to run? ant help would be great ALSO i want to remove dash aka spedo tack and bracket none of lights work nor do gauges can i just disconect wires do ant need to be hooked up for bike to run THANKS FOR YOUR TIME FELLAS
