Soon to cut and weld some frame. Do I need to... was created by KZ7hundy
I'm planning on cutting a chunk of the back of my frame off and welding a few things onto it as well for my cafe project. Do I need to be careful of frying any electrics? I figured I would remove the battery and not have the ignition on haha but anything else I should consider?

It's a common ground bike. I would disconnect all electrics, personally, before taking a welder to it.

Take the battery out just to move it from the spark's
I've welded on car's and truck's for year's and never
had an issuse with burning up the electric's.

haha got some mixed opinions. The ground clamp helps to keep the current relatively secluded right?

Take Dave's opinion over mine. He sounds more experienced.

I just had a guy reinforce a seat hinge where it attaches to the frame. He used an arc welder. We removed the gas tank, battery and then covered up the wires in case of sparks. It turned out fine.
If you have a fire extinguisher it would be good to have it nearby, just in case.

Yeah same things I was planning to do. I am using a MIG welder though. I heard ARC was a better type, but hopefully it will go well. Thanks for the tips guys.
