WG relay mod with 2 relays? was created by BARNEYHYPHEN
Just a thought but could the WG relay mod be done with 2 relays and would each relay then only be called upon to open/close at half the rate of the one relay? Could you split the yellow/red wire in to 2 and send one wire to the each of the two relays #86. Then take one relay #87 to the 1/4 coil and the other relay #87 to the 2/3 coil?

Thanks.

Mod re-routes power to coils. Coils are still discharged by ignition mechanism (points, CDI, dyna product, ...) So, no need for two relays.

So Duck, Am I understanding you to say that the relay does NOT open/close at each firing but instead, makes the circuit when the ignition & kill switch are turned ON and the circuit remains ON, until either the ignition or kill switch is turned off?

Like Duck sez, the relay just reroutes your power more directly. When you turn the ignition key, you can hear it click on, and it stays on.

The path to the coils passes through a mess of connectors and switches. If the voltage at the coils is low then less energy will be stored and the spark will be weaker.

IMO the mod isn't needed if the voltage at the coils is within spec. If it's low, the mod is much simpler than replacing connectors and switches in the coil supply circuit.

If your bike has a ballast resistor and points, it's a good idea to keep the ballast in the circuit. Otherwise you'll be dressing your points a lot more often.
