Need help finding turn signal stem bolts was created by toadson
Hello again everyone,
I have been running around for quite some time with no turn signals. Each time I ride, I feel like I need to have my turn signals back in place just to be safe.
My bike fell over in the grass and broke off the left side turn signals. Nothing was damaged except for the hollow bolts that thread into the turn signal stem on one end, go through the mounting point and have a nut on the other end. They obviously snapped in half, and I need to find some new ones. I contacted Z1enterprises and was told I would have to buy a whole new stem. Surely someone knows where to get these! If only I had a lathe....
Thanks again for any help.

Ok, here are a couple options for you. What you need is a threaded nipple, and if your referring to your 79, it should be a 10mm threaded nipple. Unfortunately a 10mm nipple is hard to come by locally. If you want to find one, you can possibly google it and possibly order one online.
Now, another option (and the one I prefer) is to go to your local hardware store and get a standard standard nipple. You have a couple options here. You can use a threaded nipple from the lamp repair/parts area. Comes in several links and its cheap. Issues with these is that the nuts are usually thin. OR you can use a threaded copper nipple from the plumbing section which comes in 1/8, 3/8, 1/4 IPT and is available in varying lengths, nuts are issues here to. Of course you will have to re-tap the blinker, but once you do its an easy fix if it ever happens again.

You can use those or order some OEM style chrome stems from K & S technologies. A motorcycle accessories shop might have what you need in stock.

Those are exactly what I need. My stems are fine, those bolts are what broke. The front ones are longer than the rear.
Boostable, that's an idea I may take into consideration. It may be tricky finding something that small around here, but it's something to keep an eye out for.
A separate issue I have from the broken bolts is that my front stems have the diamond shape molded on the end where they go through the headlight, but my headlight bracket is built for a bolt, because the turn signals originally mounted on the handlebars. I just slipped a piece of hose over the diamond shape and bolted it on. Any idea if someone sells a new headlight bracket and washers? I can't go back to mounting them on the handlebars since I put a different style on and they would hit the tank.
