Can ST gauges be taken apart and repaired?
06 Oct 2011 03:27
I've seen services that can re-surface the faces of Kawi speedos and tachs...
Never gave it much thought but was always under the impression they were sealed / crimped units. Can they be taken apart and repaired?
Friend has an ST with a broken speedo needle and wants to keep the gauges as it shows original mileage and he wishes to keep the original parts.
Anyone done a Youtube or a written tutorial?
Also curious about re-facing my 78 Z1R as the fade of the gauges will be the only thing that does not appear pristine.
Wonder if they simply decal over them... If so this would probably dim the illumination.
Anyone?

I've taken my gauges apart to change the bulb. I'd think you should be able to take them apart further for any repairs... And as for the decreased illumination, you can get high output led's that can still fit in the stock plugs. That should make it fine to see.

ditto...it is about US$90.00 per unit + shipping...they look like new when returned.

Got a prompt reply from Bob Harrington from Zresto and they do the entire 4 gauge cluster from the Z1R... they are coming off and going out this week!
That's the finishing touch I think I will need!
