blade fuses and wire gauge
01 Oct 2011 21:45
Hi Folks,
Going to replace my fuse box and upgrade to blade type fuses. I've purchased 3 of these heavy duty, inline types. 12 gauge wires coming out of them.
The 20amp fuse on my kz has a 12 gauge wire coming in/out of it. So this should work good. But the 10amp fuses have 14/16 gauge wires coming off them. Would I run into any trouble putting a blade type fuse holder inline with these smaller gauge wires on the 10amp fuse? Sorry if this seems silly but I really have no idea.

As long as you clearly indentify what size fuse goes where and does what, I see no problem. Only 3 fuses? My 1982 GPz 1100 has five(5), a 30 amp main, and 4 10 amp circuits.

Yeah, that's what my 750 HAD too...20 amp main and 2 10 amp circuits. They put a lot of strain on those little suckers. LOL! :silly:

Should work fine with the seperate fuses your using there.
Bo (onkelb) sent me this 4 fuse holder from Denmark, and I used a stock fuse boxes wiring to hook it up. Holds one spare fuse.

Here is a wire gauge guide. I like to refer to it to make sure I don't melt anything after I wire it.
hmmm not sure how to attached a PDF - so I added it to the FileBase under non specific model - WireGaugeTable
