I've been searching for alternative ignition's & i found this on the twin's site; works for the 750 too.
www.armbell.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12...start=0&mforum=kz400
By the time i buy a new coil, points, condensor etc i might be as well putting this in!
Replacing points etc & getting new leads is going to be around £80, converting to that electronic ignition is going to be about £160.........but is it worth doing, it seems to be getting great reports.

Thank you Both!
That would be really great, cheers.loudhvx wrote: If you are seriously considering going to an electronic ignition, there are several options available. I can detail them a little later. I have to leave for work now.
Incase you're wondering why im asking so many questions about so much stuff its because that when i do something & think i've done the best i can i usually then find out there was a better modification or way to do it, so i end up spending unnecessarily. I just hate getting stuff & then seeing that if i had put more money to it a much better thing/system etc could have been had!

 Ok, i will indeed. I do tend to try & see what direction im going in so i know what to look for quite quickly. There is also a condenser plate, point & wiring selling on UK ebay for decent money at the minute, its ending in 15 hours. If im going in that direction i'll be trying to buy it.
I read your helpfull threads on the alternative systems for my bike, the KZ440 stuff seems to be scarce as mentioned in most of those threads. I have searched ebay & not much seems to be available.
Thank you again for searching, whatever im putting into the search box doesn't seem to be coming up with the correct/relative results, obviously pilot error in my case! :woohoo:

Well searching for answers, use Google and add KZR to the text if you want to have the answer here. Otherwise Google will bring up all of the other, both related and non-related stuff.750steve wrote:

You can post a Wanted To Buy add here on kZR, and also start a thread on Z750 Twin Ignition Parts to retrofit to Electronic.
There are places to buy all kinds of Ignitions, depending on both what it is designed for and the money you want to spend.
A reluctor and pick-up coil could be fitted from all sorts of other bikes/ cars, using your mechanical advancer now. Then the Ignitior from that donor to wire in, and a corresponding coil. But then Its a Frankenstein, even though that might be fine and work well. The Kawasaki small twin stuff is out there, but exactly where. I'll look at a bit for you.

But there are so many Ignitions out there. Just as a points replacement, with new parts that one might be a reasonable choice. Loudhvx can even draw you up an Ignitor to use from a GM module used on the older V*'s here in the USA. But you still need a reluctor and pick-up coil, for trigger.
the KZ stuff would bolt on, and wire in, and then be a Manufacturer and Period correct Modification.

What i liked about the kit on the Twins Forum is it replaces everything, although probably relatively quite pricey. It seems to have some good write-ups from the guys that have bought it too.
I'll take this to the new thread
