Does anyone remember the thread dealing with maximizing spark voltage by changing to some bigger sized wire? Seems like it had to do with coil primary or something. Thanks.

No, but you will get WAYYYY better results just by trashing the stock coil and replacing it with the $36 EMGO coil from Z1 Enterprises. Increasing wire size is absolutely a waste of time and money.
You can also do the "coil mod" so a relay bypasses the harness wiring and supplies battery voltage directly to the coil primary. If your ignition switch and coil are OK, you don't need to do any of that.
