bypass ign.
17 Sep 2011 17:39
does anyone know how to bypass the ign. so I don't need a key to start my 77 kz1000? I'm trying to make the bike into a cafe styled bike. I just want to flip a switch and kick-start the thing. I'm thinking of taking out the starter to lighten it up a bit. Anyway i'll just start with that question.
Thanks

Power to coil primaries is usually supplied via switched battery positive through the ignition and kill switches.
Could run a wire from battery positive through a toggle switch to the coil primaries.
Good Fortune!

how about putting the ignition someplace where you cant see it?
enough of these bikes have been stolen over the years,no sense in making it easier for the scum bags to steal it

If you unplug the ignition switch one wire should be hot, the other three NEED to be hot to run.
Each one probably supplys voltage to different systems. Check your diagram.
