Breaker Lead Wire

I want to replace the breaker lead wire on my KZ440. This would be the fabric wrapped wire running from the points to the coil. It appears to no longer exist as an OEM part, so can I buy it by the foot somewhere?. What is that stuff (the wire) called? Do I need to be concerned about acquiring a specific guage for this application? Thanks to anyone who has answers.

Probably at least 18 gauge wire would be large enough for the current requirements. 20 gauge would, I think be a little too small.

Really. So this stuff doesn't come with the insulator installed? Cool. That makes life easier. Actually, what would make life easier is knowing what I'm doing in the first place. But, it helps a lot to find people who do. Thanks.

You could probably make your own wiring by taking a drill, some two colored wires, twist them up 7 cover with heatshrink tubing. Finding the terminals that will work/fit might be a problem as some are the 90 degree type.

Looked at this?
