Will this help, link to KZR in "Filebase" where the wiring diagram is: www.kzrider.com/filebase/cat_view/97-197...-kawasaki-kz-1000-d1
Factory Service Manual would be recommended, and you might find one for down load on site with a search. Or maybe someone will post the link.

no gound for the Regulator will mean no charging, and then it will not stay running after starting with a charger. bad battery, maybe, but no charging, fix that ground. then see where else you have problems. have you charged the battery overnight with 2 amp charger then test? instead of getting rid of the battery there are other options, again search is your friend. its been covered, if the on-site search doesn't return the info try Google, and add KZRider to the search text.

Usually the regulator/rectifier is grounded through a black with yellow stripe wire. Kawasaki uses this all over the bike for the ground circuit. All wires going to the frame using terminals must be clean and tight as the frame is also part of the ground circuit, indicated by having the Negative(-)battery terminal(post) go to one of the engine mounting bolts.

right now the only ground i have is one from battery neg side to the motor and i added one the other day to get my lights working from the black yellow wire to the frame is the battery sposed to ground to frame insteadof the motor if so that could explaine why i had such a problem with the lights the other day b4 adding the new ground where does it normaly ground so i kinda thaught the ground to the motor was odd right beside my oil air filter behind the starter cover

The heavy gauge cable/wire from the Negative post to the engine mounting bolt is the way it's usually done, with smaller wires providing the grounds for turn signals and other lights.

The battery cable has to be there for the starter motor heavy current draw, a Black/ Yellow connection to the frame is what Kaw did on later models. The wiring dia. after I look at is probably not for yours. I don't see a separate R/R.
But you need a ground at the regulator for it to work, whether it is the factory ground or one you've added.
Once charging then as long as the battery, or if you researched a capacitor, is across the connections for a storage/ stabilizer, it should stay running.
This diagram is probably correct for yours, as it shows the separate R/R: www.kzrider.com/filebase/cat_view/95-197...-kawasaki-kz-1000-a1
