Kick Start Switch
24 Aug 2011 17:19
I have a 1991 z750. Shaft drive. On this model the kick start switch does not cut out the engine but just flashes a warning on the clocks next to the fuel level.
So it's not serious, but annoying to have this thing flashing at me all the time.
The switch is a sealed unit and cannot be opened, the wire going into it is crimped and terminates under the plastic seal that has been poured in.
Can I replace the switch with one from another model, the 550 for example? 've had the bike since 1993 and want to keep it forever in as near original condition as I can, so I'm not keen to cut and join the wire to disable the switch, even though it has no cut out function.

Kick Stand switch, yes indeed, I had a brain fart.
Good news - lashings of WD40, left overnight and a few judicious taps with a hammer and the switch has freed itself. Hooray! first time in years I have a dashboard that doesn't blink!
