I am getting 13.29 volts while running on my 77 kz1000. Does anyone know what the ideal number of volts would be?

14.5 maybe 15 tops is about all you should see. Any more and the rectifier/regulator needs checking. www.electrosport.com has a good troubleshooting page, take a look at it...

14V nominal.

Low voltage can be from a bad reg/rectifier assembly or generator windings.

Why are you running on your 1000? You should be riding it. ;) :P Sorry I just couldn't resist. The book states that it should be up to as hi as 15V at higher RPM.

Hmmmm... i know it should be around 14.5 Volts, and never exceed 15 Volts, but that isnt always the case.

On my CSR 1000 I have all new everything in the charging system - stator, magnets, R/R, wiring, battery, the whole job.

It still idles at your said 13.3 volts and climbs to no higher than 14.5 Volts no matter how high it revs.

13.3 Volts is a good maintenence charge, but it really isnt charging back into the battery till after it reaches 14.

Never had an issue... all brand new! Seen it before on many other bikes too...

Check the voltage with the engine revved up, not idling. The voltage spec is for revs above about 3k. At lower revs it can drop a lot.
