Yes, it could be the ignighter, it could also be the coils, wires, plug caps, plugs, leads from the pickups, the pickups themeseleves, advancer, and any wiring in between that makes up the ignition.

Start at one end and good luck! - I would do plugs first... :P

When mine had an intermittent miss, it was a flaky coil crapping out when it got hot.

An internally frayed battery+ voltage wire in the last few inches before reaching the coil primary winding can be difficult to find, and may cause intermittent coil function.

When this occurs, the external appearance of the wire (usually red or red/yellow) often looks just fine.

Diagnosis may be aided by wiggling/manipulating the suspected wire while the engine's running, or using an ohmmeter with the ignition switch OFF.

Good Fortune! :)

I would guess your valve clearance is too tight if this problem starts after the engine warms up. Roy

What was the matter? What did it look and what did you do? I'm getting a small issue like the other guy and I'm starting to investigate. My plugs are new though. My issue is when the bike is hot too. 1st gear only when starting out.

The reported issue may result from something as simple as a low or weak battery, or imperfect battery cable connections.

Good Fortune! :)

first gear only is not the coil. The bad coil will misfire in any gear.
