Head light bulb popped off. ?Normal?
04 Aug 2011 23:10 - 04 Aug 2011 23:11
So I was trying to figure out why my headlight stopped working and this is what I found.
The little thingy on the left is the bulb. It's rattling around inside there.
Obviously I want to have a headlight so I don't get ranned over and can sees at night.
Why would this happen? Looks like a short or to much power to the light.
ETA: I'm holding the light upside down so ya'll can see.

Doesn't look like a normal failure to me. Either sever vibration, like washboard gravel road, or possibly a over voltage. If you have a volt meter, check the voltage across your battery with about 4000 RPM. Also check headlight mounting, as it should be Isolated with rubber grommets where bolted to forks.

Is that a sealed beam headlight? Not a H4 with the removable bulb? If it's a sealed beam,it might cost $$ to replace. Model of bike?

I'm leaning towards voltage.
It's a sealed beam.

Probably vibration sheared the mounting pins on the bulb causing it to float around inside. Here's a good website for replacement sealed beam headlights:

If it were me, I'd be looking for a H4 conversion kit for the bike.
