The electrical push on connections should be clean and tight for good operation. Kawasaki used 1/4" connections from the factory on their bikes.
The after market Dyna's and Accel use ring terminals requiring some electrical rework. Just a matter of cutting off the push on terminals, stripping back the insulation, & crimping on the proper size ring terminals(probably 3/16" I.D. Red terminals for 22-18 gauge wire, but check the ring terminals so they fit the electrical terminal screws first).

I installed the Emgo 4 Ohm coil on my 1979 B4. It is maybe 1/2" shorter than stock so I jury rigged a small metal piece with two holes in it to mount the free end to the frame bracket. You could probably mount it using one bolt and a tie wrap but I made an extension bracket for mine.

If the two small wires to the coil primary terminals are attached with a screw, make sure neither screw head touches and shorts out against the coil mounting spacer or anything else.

is it just a process of removing two wires. hooking up two wires, and then putting on two plug wire boots and thats it?

Unless there's a clearance problem where the primary wires can short out, no. Just do one wire at a time or in some cases, one coil at a time to reduce the chance of a mis wire.

Re: anything i should b4 installing coil?
04 Aug 2011 19:18You will need to crimp some connectors onto the coil primary leads and the wiring harness leads (blue and red/yellow) so you can connect the wires. Then fit/cut the spark leads and screw on the spark caps.newowner79kz750b1 wrote: is it just a process of removing two wires. hooking up two wires, and then putting on two plug wire boots and thats it?

If the new sparkplug wires are copper(that's usually what came from the factory), the sparkplug caps made by NGK will screw onto them. If you've got the supression type, you'll need a special crimper to secure the sparkplug terminal to the conductive part of the wire.
When working with the primary(small wires) side of the ignition coils, use the following as a guide for wire sizes:
RED 22-18 gauge wire
BLUE 16-14 gauge wire
YELLOW 12-10 gauge wire
American Wire Gauge(AWG) is backwards to what people think regarding size, the bigger the number, the smaller the size of the wire I.E. 10 gauge is many times the size of 22 gauge wire.

i actually would like the type of spark plug caps that u do need to crimp the wire into. i really dont trust the screw on plug caps. can i just got to my local store and ask them for a crimp on style spark plug caps?

Dyna sells the crimp on type of sparkplug connection I believe you're describing, I suppose it would work for copper sparkplug wires/high tension leads. The kit comes with the rubber boots for the sparkplugs.
It might be easier just to buy a set of Dyna copper core sparkplug wires as they come with the sparkplug end already crimped, with just cutting to length to fit the ignition coils.
Most bikes use 7mm sparkplug wires, so maybe a local car shop dealing in speed equipment would meet your needs.
