i hope all of you get a kick out of this. in a previous post i said how my bike would go about 10 feet then cut out. total shutdown like i blew a main fuse. but then 2-3 seconds later it would come back to life, fire right up and go another 10 feet. well stupid me made my own battery + cable and it was a little thicker on the battery end then stock. no problum right? wrong! i forgot to install the red insulation bootie on it and every time i jumped my fat ass on the seat it made contact with the seat pan and shorted out! i don't belive i'm such a idiot! well long story short, i installed the bootie and all is fine.runs strong and noone around here but my wife knows i'm a moron. have a good laugh at my expense and remember,at least i found it on my own and didn't have to hear anyone laughing to my face! somethimes i really am my worst enemy. ha-ha!
someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

You're not alone dude... I had a similar problem when I first rigged up my sealed scooter battery and stuffed all the electrics under the seat. Everytime I took a corner or hit a bump I'd blow my main. Finally figured out which connector under my seat was shorting the lot when getting squished.

Cool, every experience adds to the knowledge pool and may help another rider. Glad it worked out. Go figure for the boot huh?

Ah yes, this happened to me, too, but because my red boot was deteriorated.

What I did was cut a section of bicycle tube, about 3 inches, flattened it (so it's two layers) and cut a small hole in it, and bolted it to a frame bolt nearby, and then just lay the tube piece over the positive post. The bolt holds it securely in place.

Ghetto, yes. Effective, you bet.
