another silly question

any chance of a 1977 wiring harness being switched to an 1980s wiring harness and working?????:blink: :blink: like i said im ready to just rip it out and try a simple complete curcuit like in scienece class ....dont know if that would work either .......oh yeah i own a 1977 650 c

The 2 are different, but you may be able to modify the 1980 harness to make it work. Here's where you can see all the KZ650 wiring diagrams so you can see what changes you would need to make:

The chargings system is different and the ignition is different, so you'll have to make some changes there, at least.
