oil in my generator cover

So I was going through the wiring diagram today with my brother(who's an electrician). Noticed that there is a possible small spot where the sealant is missing from the lower section of the engine that possibl leaks oil into the generator cover. Before I go and put the gasket and generator cover back on, what's the best way to solve the issue? Can I fill the gap with sealant, or do I have to dissamemble the resta the engine and regasket and seal it too?

Please add your bike model into your signature... because some have oil in the stator and other models should be dry, no oil in the stator... generally little oil in a dry stator model does nothing bad!

What model & year of bike? The Z1's,kz900's,Kz1000's & Kz1100's have a rubber gasket that can get old and leak where the alternator output wires go through the left engine cover.

You'll need to remove the left side engine cover to affect this repair. If possible lean the bike to the right reducing the amount of oil lost. Some riders clean the area off and then use a high temperature sea;ing compound on the wires. The oil pressure is between 2.2 to 2.8 PSI, so no worries about something blowing out.

apologies, I have a 78 kz400c1, it's in pieces so the side cover is already off and there is no oil in the engine(i have pics on my blog at since my phone won't let me attach pics on here). I put pics of the whole area. Looking afterward there is a hole below the generator that leads me to believe there is supposed to be oil in there. Is that possible?

edit: @laurent thanks,if that is a crack then, but there's supposed to be oil in there anyway, then should I not worry bout it? Or would it be good to atleast fill that little hole with sealant anyway? Thanks
