I'm trying to put the stock wiring back together on a 1975 Z1B.Where does the main ground side of the batttery connect to the frame?

'76 KZ900 Engine Case ground point... Should be same/similar to your Z1.

Ground to engine case as depicted in the image, frame mount directly above grounds frame. You can always add a welded bolt/nut for direct frame grounding as well.
