So I've run into the same problem that many before me have as well. My charging system just isn't up to snuff anymore. I've got a '77 KZ750B2 which currently has the older style ('76-'77) charging system with a stator, rotor, and field coil.

Now I've read several places that I should be able to retrofit the newer style stator & flywheel (magneto) system onto my bike but there's one key detail that keeps getting left out.

Does anyone out there happen to know if this means I can only put a newer KZ750B3-B4 ('78-'79) system on, or does that also include the KZ750E ('80-'83) systems as well?

My goal is two-fold. I'd like a charging system that can reliably power my bike and keep my battery topped up, but I'd also like to go battery-less in the future which means getting rid of the energized field coil.

I'd greatly appreciate any help that anyone out there can provide.

Well I believe I've found the answer to my own question. It appears that the KZ750B3/B4 & KZ750G series all use the same charging setup.

Here are the part numbers:

Flywheel: 21050-1004
Stator: 21003-1006

Now I just need to track down those parts along with a cover and wiring harness. The regulator/rectifier, I'll order from Oregon MC Parts, along with my battery eliminator.
