1984 GPZ 1100 Engine Temperature Gauge was created by man-of-war
I was thinking of installing an engine temperature gauge onto my dash on my 1984 GPZ 1100 and was wondering where do I tap into to get the temperature reading?
Thanks,
Steve
Thanks,
Steve

If you buy an aftermarket Temp gauge, it should come with or you will need the correct sending unit for it. The factory Temp sensor for your injection system is just for the computer, not your aftermarket gauge. If the range of the sensor was found to be the same. Hooking it into the factory wiring would require a diode so as to not cause additional resistance to the computer.
Best to have its own separate sensor calibrated for the gauge you buy.

The 1984 GPZ is still air cooled.
Make sure you are getting a temp gauge and sensor that are for an aircooled engine. The sensor is probably a ring the goes under the spark plug like a washer.
The other option would be a oil temperature sensor.

Check out this thread. There is a spot in the oil gallery above the ignition cover.
