GM coil pack for KZ? was created by jga2z
Here's a thought.
Anybody ever try to use a GM dual post coil on a KZ? I think you might have to use different wires or plugs? I'm thinking about trying it on my 82 LTD1000.

MSD version info

They are common as dirt. Used on about every V6 for 20+years. I've got about 10+ on the shelf.
The one I tested had about 0.7ohms on the primary, and 5.8K ohms on the secondary. Much lower than the stock ones for my bike, which are supposed to be 1.8-2.8ohms on the primary, and 10.4-13.6Kohms on the secondary.

currently 1982 LTD1000 UNI dual throat pods, MAC header Supertrapp muffler. Shoei fairing.
The good old days: 1977 KH 400 triple, 1978 KZ650B all the basic mods, My avatar a 1980 LTD 750, ditto on the mods

After frying the Ignitor, you can use the HEI modules to replace the Kawasaki one. Member Loudhvx has a write up on it, but may require some modification for the GM coil? He could help you with that. You most likely have some modules on the shelf next to the coils?
Next question would be why? Is your Kawasaki Ignition coils bad? Replacement coils aren't very expensive. Aftermarket performance coils are a bit more but not bad considering they're for Bikes.

When I searched for info on this GM coil swap it came up with nada.
Here's the deal I'm disabled and can barely ride this bike. Until I end up in a wheelchair I'll keep it and try to make do with what I have since I have next to no income to buy parts. So if I have parts laying around I can use I'll see what I can make work.
