I don't think it's a Dyna.. was created by KZ1000A2A
So I'm working on my newly aquired 78 kz1000 and after cleaning the tank and carbs, changing the oil, buying a new battery, yadda yadda. I find that there is spark at only one plug. Both coils have 12v in and out and seem to check out and probably one bad plug wire?? I'll get to that later.
So I pop the point plate cover off to find this..

If it's a Dyna I have never seen one like it?? anyway one of the pickups is coming loose from it's mount so probably my problem. In a box of parts included with the bike I find this..

I'm thinking this is the cheapest way to fix this..but the rotor looks like this..

and it has no eccentric to bump the point open, so my question is do I need a whole different rotor or does the round magnetic thing somehow pull off the rotor?

Any help, advice, words of wisdom would be great. I'm cool with putting the points back in, just not sure what parts to aquire or where to get them other than Ebay?? or?

The pickups kinda look like(to me) the old Gearex(Gerex?) system. Do you have an external aluminum capacitor or any cables going from the pick ups other than the ignition coils?

It seems as though there is another wire other than the two to the coils, You can kinda see it in the pic and I believe it was orange but no I didn't trace it down. I will tomorrow. As a note there are absolutely no markings on the plate. You can see in the pic how the right side pickup is sitting at an angle because it is loose. Any advice on the rotor?

The bolt and false"Nut" hold the mechanical ignition advancer to the crankshaft, what you DON'T want to do, is try turning the engine over using the 12-13 mm bolt. The false "Nut is designed for this job. I believe it's 17mm. More than a few ownres have either sheared the long bolt off in the crankshaft, or the hardened pin in the crank where the mechanical advancer fits.

Both removal will probably need a machine shop to do it's magic to remove the broken pieces.

I don't recall ever seeing a magnetic rotor like you've got in the picture, maybe someone else will know what the ignition system is.

There was also a brand years ago called "Martek" (Martex?) that was a popular electronic ignition.

Last night I got a few minutes to look into this rotor and I was able to remove the magnet but it didn't look like what I was hoping to find. No eccentric but it has 2 machined surfaces, I'm not sure what the factory piece looks like but I'm guessing "this ain't it".
