From your other problems it still sounds like you have a short somewhere from the reg/rec's white and black wires. Or your r/r just coincidentally failed. I just rewired my whole 1979 kz650 and got a reg/rec from a 79 550 hopefully it will work. good luck!

Yeah i installed a def from a 78 550 and it worked fine, now other problems have arisin ><. New thread time.
