I am having trouble trying to wire my 1980 kz750g twin
please take a look at the wiring diagram i drew up.
It is true that all gauges and turn signals have been removed. All I have is what is shown.
The lights are working but I am not sure about charging system and ignition system
Also the keyed ignition has been replaced by a 30amp toggle switch.
If you have any suggestions why the engine wont kick let me know

Not sure of your model but this is the closest I have for the twins... Maybe close enough to give some insight....
1976-179 KZ750 B series manual download 180Meg....
KZ750 B- Series OEM Manual;
Insure your engine has a good ground connection, should be the same potential as Battery (-)...
Using a voltmeter, Battery (-) to coil Red/Yellow when switched on should = Battery Vdc ~ 12Vdc plus. What's the condition of your coil, points and condenser?
1979 KZ750-B4 model....
Just in case you need....

Wiring diagram found in the FILEBASE:
www.kzrider.com/filebase/doc_download/490-kawasaki-750g-wiring
Engine should run (until the battery runs down) with the following ignition wiring:
The points are supposed to ground and un-ground the ignition coil.
Contacts closed = grounded (coil charges).
Contacts open = un-grounded (coil fires).
Good Fortune!

Thank you for responding so fast.
The coil is original but is getting a good spark to the plugs.
The point seem to be clean with no pitting.
I'm not sure about the condensor because I do not have the tool to check it.
I forgot to mention I just rebuilt the top end (new pistons and gaskets) is it possible that i could have messed something up when I was in there? The engine roles over fine and seems to have good compression.
Thanks again you guys are awesome
