I believe even the two cylinder 750 Kaw has the vacuum operated petcock. The vacuum line probably comes from the carb holder like all the others. There should be two lines to the petcock, one fuel line and one vacuum. Try starting it on prime position. Bob

well maybe this one is a homemade job, there is 2 lines going to the petcock, one goes to one carb, the other goes to the other carb, the petcock itself screws directly into the tank, like maybe it forms a vacuum when the tank lid is closed, that could explain why its a pain in the a&# to start, whatcha think?

Naw! That's a symptom of a blocked tank vent which won't cause a problem till about fifteen minutes into a ride.

Just make sure you are getting fuel to both carbs. If you are , and it still won't fire you might have a plugged up pilot circuit. Also , after cranking for a while check to see if the plugs are wet.

I also looked up the carb set up on that bike and there are no vacuum lines. Each carb should have it's own hose from the petcock. Also check the petcock to be sure it is working correctly and there is enough fuel in the tank to work on the "ON" setting.

This pic is of oem '79 KZ750-B4 carbs from kawasaki.com.

Identity of the hoses is just guess-work on my part, and could be wrong.

According to kawsaki.com, this model was originally equipped with a manual style (not vacuum) petcock.

Good Fortune! :)

Probably a bad tach seal, contact www.z1enterprises.com and get a new seal. Check the condition of the tach cable while you're at it by removing the cable from the tach and engine & then if possible pulling the inner cable from the outer looking for broken strands. If good, wipe it down and apply a thin coating of grease.
