Fuse pops when start button is pressed

Ok, so I have a short somewhere in my starting mechanism because all of my lights work, but when my starter button is pressed the main fuse pops. Could someone tell me what I should test with a multi-meter to find this short? I looked up the wiring diagram on kz650.info but it makes no sense to me. Too much shit going everywhere. Pinched wire some where between the battery to the ign. switch to the starter button to the starter relay switch.......?

Look in the filebase here for a copy of your wiring diagram, or something close enough.

You will probly want to purchase some decent wire wrap to re-do your harness, cause your gonna be tearin it apart!

Trace all the wiring and compare every connection to the diagram. Clean everyconnector thouroughly by taking them apart and sanding/filing, and use a good electrical connector spray that protects them before re-assembly.

Since the fuse blows when starter button is pushed, I would disconnect the solenoid first, then retry. Could be a faulty solenoid. If it still blows then check inside the head light housing, and under the tank for a short. Your bike doesn't have wires running through the bars for the switches does it? If so this would be a common place for a short.

Found a cut open wire coming straight off the starter button inside the handle bars. Shrink wrapped and e taped it up and the bike is running agian. Thanks for the replies
