I installed this and set the timimg static @ 30 degrees. The bike starts, revs and idles fine. I got a timing light and now want to set it correctly but I have looked everywhere and can't find the degrees advance it is supposed to be? All I can find is in reference to the T marks on stockers. The dyna has a degree range.

I think it should be about 35 degrees but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone know?

I can't remember off the top of my head, but I should have the info when I get home this evening. Seems to me that the Dyna installation instructions had information about total advance and which advance curve to select on a chart. I'm certain that I took the info from them.

Thanks Motorhead. 77KZ1000 Look on page 7. You probably want advance curve #4 and total advance of 40* at 3500 rpm.

ok, so I'm clear. I set the static timing to 40 degrees which is what it will be at full advance? Looking at the graph if I shoot my timing light at it at idle it should be showing about 20 degrees. I think that is where I was confused as I that that by setting it static @ 40 degrees I would be @ 65 degrees total timing at full advance.

Thanks for clarifying guys.

Yeah, what you set at static timing will be full advance. So set the static to 40 and then verify that 1/4 and 2/3 are reaching 40 at 3500 rpm with your timing light.

You really should have either a timing light with built in advance wheel/ digital functions, or a degree wheel to make additional timing marks. Setting the 2 pick-up coils the same, so you will have the correct advance on all 4cyl is the best place to start. You may have to do that before setting the total advance up.
