I just got a 1992 kawasaki ninja 500 that sat for about a year. Supposedly it ran fine befor parked, but who knows it was given to me for some money that was owed. I turn the key on and have power, lights, turn signals, horn. But i turn the switch to "run: and no electric start. I jump the solenoid and it is cranking over but no spark at all. Any ideas where I can begin on this. The coils seem to be fairly new. I have inly had old 900 or 1000cc kaws so these newer ones are brand new to me. I was looking for th ignition but all i see is the coils that route into the loom and then to an igniter.

Any ideas would be appreciated
Thanks

Check to see if there is voltage to the coils, should be near battery voltage with key on.

Check fuses FIRST, of course.

Diagnostic/maintenece is still fairly close to the old zeds. Pull and check/clean as many connectors as you can get at (hopefully all of em').

Good luck.

I believe that bike has both the side stand and clutch lever cutout switches. Be sure they are functioning properly.
