Points or Electric Ignition?

Hello, What year did Kawasaki go to electroic ignition? And my 1979 KZ400 LTD with 440 engine Asked me:dry: to get electronic ignition,But where do you buy a kit to change it over? Thanks

1973 Z1 ~ 1978 KZ1000-A2 all had points ignitions.

1979 KZ1000-A3 got electronic ignition.

Could check parts diagrams on kawasaki.com for type oem ignition on any particular model.

Lots of good info on kawasaki.com, including parts diagrams, part numbers, models sharing same part, availability, etc.
