Are you referring to a specific set of the electronics?
I can still see the wiring looms coming from the control pods, and you can see the main harness passing through the triple on them... ?
If you mean batt, and R/R, solenoid etc. Sometimes they just dont have the batt, charging system at all.
Stupid.. .i know. I had a friend ride like this. He kicked his bike to start it, then tossed the kicker aside, and just let it run all the time, even at fuel ups.
If he wanted to stop for an eat, hed have to bump start it. he used just a little battery and a capacitor setup, which to me - seemed to take about 1/2 much space as a battery.

Yep, even the green one on top has the kicker-gear exposed. I would guess they are running loss-less(?) and are kick starting.

Could be just "show setups" as well. May not even be 100% functional right now.

Eventually Im going this route.. Im building a custom seat and you can stuff a small scooter battery under the seat area. You have to chop/splice your harness and you can hide things under there and also under your tank. Theres room....you have to get creative. just Take off your seat, tank and covers and start to mod away. In the process you can make a custom harness to be just bare bones too

I bumpstart only. It's pretty easy on a 550.
If the bike has a permanent magnet alternator, then it has a good chance of running with no battery at all. It gets replaced by a capacitor. I actually have two there, but one is not connected. It's just a spare capacitor, but I haven't had any problems in over 3 years.
I also have a very efficient ignition, which helps. I run two 55 watt halogen headlights.
All of the electrics fits under the seat.

Are you using thermal compound(the white Zinc stuff) for heat transfer on the regulator/rectifier and the GM modules?

I designed the ignition so that it wouldn't really heat up the modules (like they do in a car). They are slightly warm to the touch with no heat sink compound, but they do need to be bolted to some aluminum just in case.
The reg/rec was never mounted with heatsink compound, and it gets about as warm as any other, but it gets more air where it is, so heat has not been an issue with it.
