I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

Here's a factory shop manual that covers all there is to know about the older Kz1000's/Kz1100's:

And information about the early and later engine differences:

Thanks a lot for the factory manual, it will come real handy, however I looked at the gauges on the manual and the pictures there are a rear view only and I am looking for a front view as there are a couple of different types apparently and I dont want to be buying the wrong ones on e-bay.

81-82 LTD and standard models both came with electric tach and speedo.CSR came with cable type gauges.85mph speedo was standard.U also have to have a seperate electric odometer for the speedo.Ur bike also has an electric gas guage as well. I have a set of correct gauges for ur bike if u cant find the right ones on Ebay.Dont know if I still have the odometer or not but may have that as well.bj

Thanks for the pictures, they are great. Sorry for replying late, as I took my family for a well deserved holiday. I received a set of gauges that I purchased from e-bay just like yours. I also purchased an electric speedometer sensor. I belive I have to purchase the adaptor to be able to attach the speedometer sensor to the rim. The bike I have has spoke rims and has cable speedometer. I am getting rid of the spoke rims and looking to purchase the mag wheels that it originally came with. There is a set on e-bay right now , however the front rim does not come with the speedometer sensor adaptor. How hard is it to find an adaptor?, I dont see any on e-bay and wondering if the dealers still carry this part? Thanks,Tony.
