When I installed the green 3 ohm coils on my 1982 GPz1100 B2 model, I found the ignition coils use 10-32 X 5/16" long screws to hold the primary wires.

The Kawasaki wiring harness uses 1/4" wide push on wire terminals that should either be cut off and new 3/16" ring terminals crimped on or a stub harness made up to be able to power the coils.

Fortunately for me, I've got experiance with wiring, so I made up a stub harness using "Weatherpack" electrical connectors that mate with the Kawasaki harness.

For my bike RED and GREEN are for one coil, and RED and BLACK for the other. I made the connections so the wrong coil cannot be connected.

tri,
the vtr is the best bike i have ever ridden, bang for my buck wise... i picked mine up with 14k MINT body, D&D aftermarket slip ons and a couple other things for 2200 bucks

and honestly... greatest purchase i have made

wonderful bike, really ballsy and the sound with an aftermarket exhaust is incredible, nothing like starting my twin up next to my buddies with I4's and seeing the heads turn ;)

for a serious rider, suspension is an issue, and range is sub par but love the bike, almost as much as my 650sr :)

Look at the taper on those needles. Post up how it works out for you. I only ever installed few of those factory jet kits. Most were DJ or K&N.

I got some new toys in the mail too. They aren't electrical but they should wake the Ole Girl up pretty good. Unfortunately there is a 70% chance of rain for tomorrow. I work with a guy that has a RVT1000 and it is funny to see the looks on the Harley guys when he starts that thing up.

the original honda gt and the steps and development that created the v twin sport engines to follow...were so well slid into that design and direct trickle down from tons of money aimed right at pulling other design of racing engines out of corners and out braking and turn in weight centering mass...the story behind those honda v twins is no joke...they are the real deal and the hawk must the closest thing to a naked VTR/RC51 that will ever be made...

there is one today right around my house just the same as yours and clean for 1800 today.....

they may the secret screaming deal on used bikes for the next few years...

To prevent rusting of the iron laminations on the ignition coils, go to an electrical/electronic supply store and buy some brush on "Glyptol" insulating paint.

It's a very durable sovent resistant film, that once cures will stand up to high heat and vibrations.
