Don't worry about the voltage. Go to Pep Boys or Auto Zone and get standard automotive fuses.

Fuse And Fuse Holder Designations

1. The older Kawasaki’s use a glass tubed fuse with the designation of AGX 1” long. Most good auto parts stores can get them for you. They are ¼” in diameter.

2. The more common AGC is 1 ¼” long and may not fit the smaller fuse clips. Again, ¼” in diameter.

3. To clean and polish the fuse clips, I use a cotton swab(Q- Tip) and some Brasso metal cleaner or Turtle Wax Chrome Polish. I suppose any good metal polish would work.

4. These fuses can fail internally but look good, only by removing them from the clip and electrically continuity checking with either a self powered test light, or a multimeter set on OHMS can they be determined to be in good shape.

5. A physical inspection of the metal end caps for tightness will tell you if the fuse is serviceable.

6. Most modern motorcycles are now using the automobile “Blade” style fuse with the designation of ATC or ATO.

7. The reduced sized “Mini” Blade style fuse holder uses the ATM size of fuses.

8. If the fuse and fuse holder overheat, it could soften or anneal the grip of the clip, it might require squeezing the clip to restore the tightness.

9. A list of where to purchase “Blade” style fuses and holders:

The Chinese auto parts places most likely won't have AGX fuses. By Chinese I mean Walmart, Autozone, Checkers, all those discount places people go to buy inferior parts at chinese prices which is what we all want.:) Last I was at Napa they had them, otherwise Mouser, Digikey and other electronics parts supply houses online have them.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I found an assorted box of glass tube fuses that fit in my 1979 KZ750 at Pep Boys a while ago, but it was probably a few years back.

Here in Silicon Valley today I was looking for 10 amp fuses for my 1980 Z1 and failed to find any at:

- Napa
- O'Reilly Auto Parts store
- local Yamaha dealer
- Fry's Electronics

I tried to buy some 10amp fuses at the Kawasaki shop 2 weeks ago but when I got them home they said 9 amps (shouldn't have taken the parts counter guy's word for it). One of the 10amp slots in my fusebox has a 9amp fuse right now. My '80 Z1 has one 20amp fuse, I managed to buy 2 of those at the Kaw shop, it has a god-knows-how-old 10amp and a new 9amp.

The fuses in my bike are shorter than the normal length glass tube fuses. I am kinda pissed about this because hey man its a fuse what is the deal. I've hit 2 bike shops and 2 parts houses and a megastore electronic nerd-heaven superstore (Fry's) and yet no 10amp shorter fuses.

Will have to look on the internet maybe. Whoever said the local sellers of chinese stuff are useless, man it seems like ALL the places I checked today were supporting the communist economy over there. If they have my shorter 10amp fuses I'm okay with it. I was wondering how big of a deal to switch my 3-fuse fusebox to the new widely-available blade style fuses, these old glass tube fuses are impossible to find, can't imagine the scene in 5 years. Can't find them on Z1 Enterprises web site, searched on 'fuses' nope, looked through 'electrical' for my bike nope, I have learned that due to the crappy Z1 search/find by model interfaces which suck imo, the fuses for the bike might still be there but dont ask their website to find it. That website is like a marginal employee, you need them around but you will one day fire them and be really happy about it.

If I look up my bike on Z1E website why am I finding generic junk like 'universal wire' and 'multimeter' and 'crimper tool' too much generic sh!t I find whenever I pull up a specific bike model on the Z1E site. I do like them they are friendly when you call them. site sucks.
