Anyone else out there running a LED headlight? Hell, anyone have one on their CAR???

I'm a little worried about the LED projection, I have several LED headlamps (little ones, wrapped around a headband, not your auto/moto headlamp), and I definitely notice a loss of depth perception. I've never really figured this out, I have 20/20 vision without glasses or contacts, but the depth perception is whack.

Can anyone "shed some light" on this phenomenon?

I know that BMW has LED as an option on a few of their high end cars. I will stay wih my HID headlight. I run it as a single beam without a individual high beam. Instead of only using the top half of the reflector I use the whole reflector and have it tilted a bit more down and out, not to blind oncomeing traffic. I use the other switch position on my control to run a city light (LED), which I use during the daytime.

Alright, bringing this topic back :)

My new HID headlight kit from Otakar just arrived today, so I'm really looking forward to throwing that in and rocking. It truly is a "plug and play" kit, just as he advertised. I pulled out my Silverstar bulb and plugged in the HID light- I think the term "a night a day difference" most definitely applies. Definitely looking to getting some night saddletime in soon!

I'm on superbrightleds.com trying to figure out what bulbs, flashers and resistors I need. Otto threw in a tail light bulb, so that "end" is taken care of. What sort of resistor so I need to plug in to ensure the tail light out light won't constantly be illuminated? Will this work:

RL-2525 Marker Lamp Load Resistor
25 Ohm, 25 Watt resistors can be connected across marker lamps to simulate
the load of a regular filament bulb. Measures 1.08"L x .59"W x .62"H. Leads
are 12 inches long.

Next up, turn signal bulbs and a new "no-load" flasher unit. I pulled my flasher unit off my KZ, it appears as though this flasher will work ( www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/in...e2Disp=/flashers.htm ):

CF12ANL-01: LED Bulb Flasher Unit
Electronic LED Flashers have no minimum load-12VDC
Eliminates the need for load resistors, turn signals will flash at normal
rate with or without LED bulbs

Now bulbs. I'd like to convert all indicator bulbs. Which option did you guys chose to replace the 3.4w bulbs? Lastly, where are these Luxeon LEDs I've heard about? I couldn't find them on the site.

Thanks for your help!

Yes, The CF12 flasher is the one you want. Do not use any resistors. The bulbs from Superbright really suck. I have tried every stile they have and none of them are worth a damn. I now import bulbs which put out some real light and they work well with or without a reflector in the signal housing (better with a reflective surface though)If the inside of your housing is just black plastic, the "chrome spray paint" works really well. You will get about twice the light. If you have a Brake Light warning light just remove the bulb. There is no need for it anyway.

I was stopped last year by a cop for speeding at night, on my bike. He never even mentioned the light. :P I just put a set of 55W HIDs on my new Jeep. Talking about BRIGHT. The ones we use on the bikes are ONLY 35W. Here is a picture of my new toy. (before I put the HIDs on)

The luxeon 3W LED bulbs at superbrightleds.com are brighter than a standard 1157 bulb. I have five of them on my KZ-750. Use a solid state flasher and chuck the external resistors.

I've had my HID now for about three years on the bike and have never had the desire to even require a Hi beam. You might have it set too low. Put your bike so it is facing your garage door and the headlight lens is 25' from the door. The top of the bright spot of the light should be 37" from the ground. If you make it 39" you wont hurt anything. Also set it so it points a bit more to the right than would be normal. I think that you will find that you will have plenty of light for any kind of riding.

Those bulbs are only 30/85 Lumens and also are only 130* beam angle. That will give you a hot/bright spot on the middle of the signal and not much more. The bulbs I have are 360* viewing angle and work extremely well in a reflector (or without) and are 100/200 Lumens (1157). I also have some 125/250 Lumens bulbs with a 300* beam. Those are very nice.
