can you tell me where that black wire coming off the rectifier runs to? I had my grounded along with all the other grounds at my engine block. When connected the battery it cooked that black lead from the rectifier????

1976 Kz900 A4 came from factory with a separate rectifier and a separate regulator.
According to the FSM's wiring diagram (see image below), each has its own black/yellow wire to ground.
Many of these have been converted to a combination rectifier/regulator contained within a single unit such as available from Z1E.
One of the combo units is a plug-in
The other, which requires some wiring, doesn't appear to have either a black or a black/yellow wire.

I'm uncertain about the internal wiring in either combo unit.
Good Fortune!

Thanks guys, just wanted to double check things before I crank it over for the first time!
I am pretty certain I have a firm grasp on that same wiring diagram. Problem is that some of the pin connectors have been bypassed, splicing has been made and aftermarket starter relay employed. These items have made for a little bit of a challenge as a newbie in electrical.
