oil leak
14 Nov 2010 21:59
I have a 76 KZ 900 with 1000 top end.The bike runs strong but it leaks oil from the left side cover just a couple drips when parked but when riding it gets my boot wet. I took the cover off and the inside has oil in it. Is there supposed to be oil in the cover? If not would this have an effect on my charging system? Thanks for any advise.

Source of the oil leak may be a failing rubber grommet where wires exit underneath from inside the alternator.
A new grommet is available from Z1E.

KZ900 is designed to run with a modest amount of oil inside the alternator cover....76 KZ 900...leaks oil from the left side cover just a couple drips when parked but when riding it gets my boot wet.
