Low Fuel Warning Light Sender was created by WABBMW
My '82 KZ650 CSR has a red light in the lower portion of the tachometer that comes on when fuel gets down to a certain level in the gas tank. Well, it quit working. I checked the wiring and connections and found everything to be good. With the ignition key ON, if you short the two pins in the pigtail that comes from the instrument area, then the light comes ON. So I figure the sending unit is at fault.

Does it sound like my troubleshooting analysis is correct? Can anything be done to rejuvinate the sending unit, or is replacement the only solution? Where can I buy one of these? The Kawasaki part number is 27010-1055.

Thanks guys.

The ebay item id given is invalid, no result has been sentPerhaps the existing switch could be renovated.

Bill, I've got a used one you can try. It's kinda rusty, though. If it works, you can have it. It came on one of the spare tanks that I have.

Here's one that you could make an offer on... KAWASAKI NOS - FUEL LEVEL SWITCH

Here's a used one that looks to be in good physical condition - I'm fairly sure it's correct for the 650-CSR... KAWASAKI KZ 750 LTD FUEL SENDER UNIT 1980-1985

Other ebbaayy searches: KZ550, KZ650, KZ750, KZ 550, 650, 750, fuel switch, sendor, sensor.... gotta go.

Thanks John. I may take you up on borrowing the sensor to see if that is truly my problem. If it works, then I will either pay you for it, or order one off ebay - your choice.

I appreciate all that you guys have done to help. I've been so busy at work lately that I have not had time to cuss a cat.
