we have fire....... was created by kz1k
ok a guy from craigslist came over for free and wired my bike. we have dash lights and push button start. but the dayna coils and the after market dyna transfer case was suggested to go back to factory. it seems the sparks fire when you touch the wire withohght pressing the button. what would a factory transfer case and coils cost me for my bike.

also i was told to get rid the the dyna crap. get a stock ignition, points plate, 2 sets of points, condensors and stock coils/ what will that run me?

see in the pics if you hook up the coil to the positive it fires the spark plugs without pressing the start button. why is this?

Not sure who gave you that tid bit of advice but I as well as many others have had good results using Dyna coils and ignition modules... Oh well...

Z1 has OEM style coils and ignition components...

Is Dyna III correctly wired? :unsure:

It's supposed to work like this -- ignition coil charges when grounded and fires through the spark plug wires when ungrounded.

On running engine, batt+ feeds continuously into coil.

The other small wire goes through the Dyna III controller box to a module under the points cover which grounds and ungrounds the coil as the crankshaft rotates.

It's not uncommon with Dyna ignition to get a random firing when ignition is switched ON and OFF.

Would not yet give up on the Dyna III.

If new ignition is ultimately deemed necessary, would go with Dyna-S instead of reverting to points.

If coils are producing high intensity voltage, no spark at plug tips may result from an issue in the secondary loop such as faulty plug wires, caps, plugs, or related connections.

i had it hooked up a few diff ways... it did spark once, but them when i tighned the nuts down it stopped working. its something simple.

Look at how the ignition coils are mounted, the terminals are very close to the frame backbone and may have shorted out. Check the fuses too as these older fuses can be a real pain to troubleshoot. They may look good but have failed internally.
