Help - custom LED tail light. Anyone here make b4?

I bought a tail light from an old car that only takes one bulb and the bulbs i ordered are single filament.

I want to create an array of LEDs to make up for the tail (running) light.

I did some googling but i thought i would ask in here in case someone has tried this before and could provide any insight to what type of LEDs to get, resistance, amperage etc..

Yes, quite a few of us have. There are various ways to do it. The simplest way is by using a LED replacement bulb. Just put "LED" in the search engine on this web sight and links should pop up. Here is mine that I custom built. i bought 1000 hi-intensity red LEDs for the project. Obviously I have some extra. :laugh:

Do you think those would fit around the bulb located in the center of this fixture?



the center bulb will be the break light and the ring around it will be the tail lights..

How many do you tink i could fit in there and what size resistor would i need?

I bought it for $19.99 at a Pilot Truck stop.

They still have them for that price. There is 98 diodes.
