How do i hook these lights up?? was created by kz.chris
Hey all,
I bought a set of tail lights from an old car. Im going to incorporate one into a cafe seat I'm making.
I have 2 questions,
1. The light only has one wire to connect but my bikes harness has 3 wires (red, black, yellow). Do i connect the black and yellow to the outer section of the lamp?
2. I picked up some LED bulbs (from china) and they appear to fit perfectly in the socket of the old car light. Do you think I will have an issue with voltage etc..
Thanks
*for some reason the 3rd image thumbnail is displaying the wrong image but the link image is good.

Most car lights are case grounded, in the picture you have, I'd imagine the wire going in at the center would be the "Hot" or Plus lead.
Rear lighting on most Kawasaki's is/are:
RED,the running or tail light circuit.
BLUE(sometimes with a RED stripe,)the brake light circuit.
BLACK with YELLOW stripe, the ground circuit.

Car bulb is likely single filament using fixture as ground through frame.
Will probably afford either tail or brake light but not both.
As noted by MFolks, stock Kaw wiring is to a dual filament bulb (one wire to tail, the other wire to brake) plus ground wire.
Good Fortune!

So your saying the LED bulb probably wont be able to act as both a brake light and a tail light?

Yup,single filament. Can't be used for tail AND brake light.
You would need 2 hot wires coming into a dual filament socket made for a dual filament bulb.

OK thanks guys. I ordered these LED bulbs off ebay. took 3 weeks to come from china but they only cost me 4 bucks (including the shipping).
I think ill "hack" one of the bulbs and possibly create a ring around the center bulb.
If i decide to buy my own LEDs, what type of ohm resistance would i need if i created an array of lights?
