RR replacement w GSXR RR was created by Mark Whiddon
I have a chopped (no where near stock) 1980 KZ750 have just replaced the stator and RR with new units and "seems" to be doing ok. The RR is a 5 pin connecter with a bullet wire for charging. 3 yell=stator 1 black=grnd 1 brn=voltage sensing (I believe) one red/wht= charging pos. It gets relitively hot(I know it is supposed to) just wondering about using a 5 wire GSXR 1000 RR if I need a replacement in the future. I have been doing alot of reading on this but cannot find anything that relates specifically to my bike. The GSXR RR is supposed to run cooler and be an all around better unit than most RR. It has 3 stator wires plus 1 grnd and 1 poss. I am thinking it would be sensing the voltage going into the batt and that is how it works rather than a seperate sensing wire like my current RR. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Ask over at www.wgcarbs.com as George is good at figuring out electrical systems.

The GSXR reg/rec can't run any cooler than yours does because it will still be dumping the same amount of current as heat.

I will agree it must dump the same amount of current, however if the GSXR RR is made with more efficient cooling fins, or larger amount of metal to conduct it away, it would stand to reason that it would stay cooler. however slight that may be. I am only going off of posts that I have read. Mostly on the CBR forum using the gxsr on a cbr and it working much more efficeintly and cooler, so I thought I would post the question concerning my 1980 KZ750. Keep the comments coming please.
