Very little difference, as in no increase or decrease?

Best way to test is to swap out with known good unit, but that isnt always easy.

The only thing controlling the voltage/current output of the alternater, is the R/R unit, therefore... its toast, or batt is toast.

Is batt known good batt? New is best.

My bike had a similar issue. I own a 1978 KZ650 SR. We tested the battery and turned out good. The rectifier was bad and needing replaced. However, i found a website that makes these bad boys NEW! Ordered one for about $98 dollars. They cover a large amount of old KZ's. Here ya go brother: www.oregonmotorcycleparts.com/Products.html
