Electric Tach Drive?

Sometimes the "title" date or "model year" date is one year after the "manufacture" date shown on the VIN.

Depends on when the bike was actually produced during the manufacturing process.

For example, a 1981 model may have been produced in 1980.

I searched VIN and comes back as 81 1000K. Manufacture date is 10/80. But like you guys say, when i look through old Kaw photos, none from 81 have that kick starter. It's not a bad thing that's for sure! This is my first Kawasaki, as i've had a Honda Twinstar, XS400, and a GS1000 in the past. Just trying to make sure I've got the right info for parts ordering!

Thanks you guys! This has been the most helpful and fast forum i've ever been on, and I usually get on them as soon as I purchase a different vehicle. Those numbers for the model year of the frame match up to what you gave, as do the motor model numbers! You guys know your stuff!

Kawasaki did not match engine numbers to frames...
