RPM Meter
08 Aug 2010 07:09
I was riding home yesterday and my rpm gauge decided to work half the time. It would work for a little while then the needle would go crazy then it would just quit working. My question is has anyone ever experienced this and is there anyway to fix it? I would appreciate any advice you could give me.

Electric Tach or cable driven?
If electric, check the wiring from the right ignition coil as this is what gives the tach the signal.
If cable driven, check the cable to instrument connector(it has a knurled ferrule that tightens against the tach)also look at the top front of the engine for a loose tach cable.
