Removing pins from plastic connector?

I want to take the plastic connector from a bad voltage regulator (KZ750H3) and use it on a known good regulator that has had it's connector cut off and lost. What's the best (or proper) way to pull the pins from the connector? Do they have little locking tips inside that must be relieved? Anyone know?

Ive had some of mine come loose and slide out, causing electrical gremlins. When I found the problem,I just shoved them back into the connector and then filled the little cavity in the back of the connector with model cement so they wouldnt slip back out.I think they just slide into a slot in the connector-at least mine seemed to.bj

Had another thought. The wires may be be in some sort of a jig and the connector may be molded around them,in which case they would be a beauotch to remove.Maybe someone else will have a thought.bj

Polkat, the connectors (terminals) enter & must exit from the "wire" end of "block", said teminals have a "tang" which as You sumise, needs be depressed to slip out. it is located on the opposite side of the open face of the wire crimp, & is accesable from the "mating" side of "block". there are special tools for the application, but with care a scribe or heavy guage safty wire will turn the trick. once you see one exposed, all will become apparent..G

I've used jewelers screwdrivers and flattened ends of paper clips to unlock the male and female pins if I could not get a proper extractor.

Be careful in reinstalling the pins as the lock can break off.

Thanks guys! Used a mini screwdriver. Had to re-raise the locking tips a bit, but all worked out fine!

The real mate&lock pin extractor has a tube the fits around the pin and depresses the tangs. Then the plunger pushes them out. What would also work is if you have small brass tubing of the right size to go around the pin and then pull the wire out. What you need to do when your removing a pin that might be seated too deeply is push the wire into the connector to releave the tangs and then slide the the tube over it. If the tangs are not angled out a bit after you remove the pin then carefully bend them out to about a 10 degree angle. Using a paper clip or screw driver is fine as long as you don't over bend the pins.

Yea, I actually have one of those. My mistake was in using the word "pin" as these are actually the flat spade type connectors. But the locking tang uses the same principle. Thanks anyway!
