On the 650s/750 fours the starter clutch isn't located behind the alternator rotor, it sits in the center of the engine on the secondary shaft tied to the crank shaft by the primary chain.

So another question for ya'll bike masters. Ive been looking at parts for my bike at bikebandit.com and the earliest KZ650 they list is a 78 KZ650. I have a 77 KZ650, so do any of you gurus out there know if the parts are going to be interchangeable, or close enough that ordering them will be ok? Cause as of right now there are only two place that I can find that will have the parts needed, first being bikebandit and the other being the dealer. Id prefer not to go the dealer route as it will be way more expensive., but I will if need be to ensure the right parts. Also anything else that I should be ordering while im at it? Would it be a good idea to get a replacement secondary shaft, starter sprocket, clutch assembly, etc.. and return or resell any parts that I dont use?
Thanks
