rectifier regulator was created by wagonmaster69
1982 KZ1100 again.
I am going to replace the rec/reg and I have a spare.
what I want to know is there a way to check my spare.


The red connector on my reg/rec had a burnt peace on it ware the black wire is.

78 KZ1000 work in progress in Hacienda Heights California and a 82 KZ1100 Spectra And a 1992 ZX11.

Most off-the-bike tests can only confirm it is dead. They can't confirm it is good. Do the tests, but if it passes all of them, you still have to put it on the bike to see if it's actually good. This is because it won't see the load and heat and vibration which may be a factor if it's flakey.

this is the only way i've figured out how to properly test these. they are subject to a totally different environment on the bike, than on a bench.

I get everything hooked up, then clip a small volt meter to the battery, tape the unit to the tank, then go for a ride and keep an eye on it.

you'll quickly know if its working properly after a good 30 mins+ of riding.
